Moulded Teapots

Some jug designs were adapted for use on teapots or other related wares. Although they are not a focus for this site, teapots will be added here as I come across them. Where they are adapted from jug designs, full details will be filed on the appropriate manufacturer's page.

Bednall & Heath. Jug design registered on 10 November 1880, Parcel 13, Number 358141, by Bednall & Heath of Hanley.

Bamboo and Birds (not titled)
Registered on 21 January 1874, Parcel 7, Number 279964, by W.T. Copeland & Sons of Stoke. Although registered as a teapot, the design was also issued as a jug.
Marks: moulded registration diamond and impressed "COPELAND"

Birdcage (not titled)
Maker unknown. Design not registered. Not yet seen as a jug. It is unusual to see relief-moulding and transfer-printing combined. The moulded design of this teapot matches wares made by Copeland but this teapot is unmarked.

"Cone"
Design registered on 12 June 1868, Parcel 5, by William Brownfield of Cobridge. The example shown here is more properly described as a tea kettle, and is a later issue with date code for September 1876.

Coral (not titled)
Beech,Hancock & Co. Design not registered. Not yet seen as a jug but possibly a precursor for the Seaweed and Coral jug by Beech & Hancock.
Marks: printed swan with "BEECH, HANCOCK, & Co. / TUNSTALL." beneath

 

"Delhi Tea Set"
Made by Cork & Edge. Design not registered. The tea set includes a small cream jug.
Marks: moulded Staffordshire knot inscribed “DELHI / TEA SET / CORK AND / EDGE”

 

"Dresden"
Made by Thomas Booth. Design registered on 7 June 1870, Parcel 16, Number 242234, By Thomas Booth of Hanley. Not known as a jug.
Marks: moulded registration mark within circle inscribed “DRESDEN / T.B. / HANLEY”.
