John Ashwell & Co.

John Ashwell & Co. are listed as earthenware manufacturers at Anchor Lane in Lane End in directories from 1835 to 1846. They are not recorded by Godden. Little is known of their products but they did make at least one relief-moulded jug.

Design not registered. A combination of the "Card Party" / "Smoking Party" reliefs (see unknown makers) with a mask spout and elements from the Ridgway Pan and Tam O'Shanter designs. The jug shown here is unmarked but another identical example has the very clear moulded maker's mark shown below.
Marks: moulded anchor with "ASHWELL & Co" curving above and "LANE END" beneath
