Liddle Elliot & Son
Bates, Elliot & Co.
Liddle Elliot & Son succeeded Mayer & Elliot at the Dale Hall Pottery in Longport, Burslem, and appear in directories from 1863 to 1869. There is then one mention of Elliot & Bate in 1870 but the successors were Bates, Elliot & Co., listed from 1870 to 1875. They were in turn succeeded by Bates, Walker & Co. (1876) and Bates, Gildea & Walker (1879-80). Godden gives the dates for Liddle Elliot & Son as 1862-71 and Bates, Elliot & Co. as 1870-75.
The surname Elliot often appears as Elliott and it should be noted that Liddle was Elliot's forename, not another partner. The "& Son" appears once as "& Sons" (plural). The names listed under the registrations below are as they appear in the records. The listing as Elliot Bros. is assumed to be an alternative, possibly in error, to Liddle Elliot & Son.
The partnerships registered several jug designs. Five are listed below but no other moulded jugs have been recorded.
