Morley & Ashworth
G.L. Ashworth & Bros.
Morley & Ashworth potted at Broad Street, Shelton, Hanley, and are listed in only one directory, for 1860. They succeeded Francis Morley & Co. (listed until 1856) and were in turn succeeded by George L. Ashworth & Bros., listed from 1861 through the rest of the century. Godden gives the dates for Morley & Ashworth as 1859-62, and George L. Ashworth & Bros. (Ltd.) from 1862.
The earlier partnership appears to have made only two relief-moulded jugs, but the later Ashworth firm made several, often titled, and three of their jugs were registered designs. When coloured, the Ashworth jugs often bear painted pattern numbers.
